  • January 6 2007. This week Thomas Schumacher, Patrick Chardronnet and a tribute to the Godfather of Soul. Long live James Brown!
New rave on snow: Austria's Play.FM has live sets from Thomas Schumacher, Stephan Bodzin, Oliver Huntemann, Martin Eyerer, Goldfish & der Dulz, Martinez and Karotte recorded at last month's Rave on Snow festival in Austria. Check out the Schumacher one especially - bigroom stuff. You can access all the mixes from the Rave on Snow event listing on PlayFM. Non-members need to sign up but we promise they don't spam. James Brown R.I.P: For his latest show, Beatsinspace's Tim Sweeney invited legendary turntablist Steinski (the inspiration for DJs such as Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow) to do a special tribute set to the late great James Brown, who sadly passed away on Christmas Day. Steinski, together with Double Dee, are best known for 'Lesson 2', a megamix which was one of the first to sample JB. Stream or download Sweeney and Steinski's mixes from the Beatsinspace website. Long live the Godfather of Soul! A drop of Chardronnet: One of RA's favourite producers Patrick Chardronnet is tonight's guest on Martin Eyerer's Session Deluxe show on Proton Radio. Chardronnet has been busy taking his laptop jams to the UK and North America, but we're happy to report he's been back in the studio with a new GusGus remix on the way. In the meantime, you can dig his set on Session Deluxe which airs Saturday 9pm - 11pm US EST (GMT - 5). From Seattle with Love: Minimal techno whiz kid Jeff Samuel released his debut longplayer 'Step' at the end of 2006 to rave reviews. But he's also a fine DJ, and has recently made an older DJ mix that he put together over a year ago available for download. Originally intended to be a released as a commercial CD, the unfinished eighty-minute mix was shelved after Samuel got caught up working on his album. You can also download Samuel's 'Off the Mark' track from his album for free for a limited time in the Trapez listing of the RA Poll: Top 10 labels of 2006 feature. Guns 'n Bombs: Kitsuné signing Guns 'n Bombs aren't a threat to world peace, but they might blow up mum's speakers if you're not careful. Their latest mix is a brash, fun, explosive monster that wigs out on Depeche Mode, The Gossip, Serge Santiago and Digitalism. You know you want it. [via Earplug.cc]
