  • Global Underground returns to Cape Town, South Africa this Friday when James Lavelle plays as part of the GU ten-year anniversary celebrations. It was Dave Seaman's Global Underground mix CD back in the year 2000 that first turned the attentions of GU followers to the dance music scene in Cape Town. But this Friday, it'll be Lavelle not Seaman behind the decks when the progressive house stable returns to the Mother City. James Lavelle is the mastermind behind indie dance act U.N.K.L.E. Originally a trip-hop collaboration between Lavelle and Josh Davis aka DJ Shadow, after the departure of Davis the outfit became a favourite with progressive house/breaks fans, best known for tracks such as 'In a State' and 'Reign' featuring the vocals of Ian Brown. As a DJ, Lavelle mixed the inaugural FabricLive release back in 2001 plus has two Global Underground volumes under his belt. The party in Cape Town will take place in the Dolphin Quarter of the city's oldest building, the Castle of Good Hope. It'll also double as the launch party for next year's Global Breakthrough tour which will see DJs such as Steve Bug, James Zabiela, Âme and Lee Burridge spinning in Cape Town from February 17 to March 3, 2007. James Lavelle plays the Global Underground 10 year anniversary party at the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town, South Africa this Friday, November 3, 2006. He'll also spin at Carfax in Johannesburg the night after.
