Breaks maestro Meat Katie is currently touring Australia and New Zealand in support of his third album ‘Vibrator’. There are still seven more dates where you can catch his good vibrations.
Meat Katie aka Mark Pember is one of breakbeat's most versatile producers. He's delivered 12"s on straight up breaks stables such as Kingsize, TCR and Finger Lickin' and on progressive imprints like Bedrock Breaks and Saw Recordings. He's also racked up compilations for Bedrock Breaks, Fabric, Kingsize and EQ/Stomp.
In July, Pember released his third artist album 'Vibrator' on Adrift Records. The album combines breaks, house, electro and techno including collaborations with Peace Division's Justin Drake, Jono Fernandez, Aquasky, Elite Force and D Ramirez. And just in case you were wondering, the album title is not related to anything you might find in a XXX store.
He recently told X-Press magazine, "You know, it's got nothing to do with anything sexual in nature at all... It goes back to the whole sort of underground warehouse sort of parties where any music goes and there were no definite genres. I guess in general, the sounds I'm all about are centred on this kind of thing - an overall vibration rather than set in concrete genres and that type of thing."
Pember kicked off his Australia and New Zealand tour last weekend with dates in Melbourne and Perth but still has seven more to go.
