Now in its ninth year, the Ibiza DJ Awards honours musical services to the island across nineteen categories including best house, techno, progressive, trance, newcomer and best Ibiza DJ.
Winners will receive a piece of “kryptonite” as the trophy for their achievements. Not the best choice of substance to present the supermen of Ibizan dance music now, is it?
According to the Awards website, this “kryptonite” fell to earth in Ibiza, and its emissions were analyzed and found to contain this message: “I have observed that here in your planet there are entities that you call DJs who have the gift of mixing rhythms with musical notes… thus producing a special vibration and certain element of magic. This is the reason why you must give the best of these DJs a piece of this.”
Techno nominee Carl Cox refers to the material as “radioactive snot.”
You the public can also vote in a number of categories here. Make sure to fill out your name and email and you could be in to win VIP tickets to the awards ceremony, which will be held on Thursday 28th September at Pacha in Ibiza. Expect special guest performances and David Guetta and 2ManyDJs to play the official afterparty.
There are also special awards yet to be announced in a number of categories including Technology, Outstanding Contribution, Outstanding Dedication, Urban Set, Set of the Season, Art Design, Ibiza Night, Track of the Season, International DJ and Lifetime Achievement. And the nominees are…
