  • How did progressive trump house and techno to become a tour de force in the United States? The answer is Jimmy Van M, up next for EQ'S Balance series. For the tenth edition of the Balance series EQ have passed the torch to one of the true trailblazers of the progressive house scene Jimmy Van M. Van M co-founded the Balance Promote Group (now called TCA), the DJ booking agency that first brought progressive house and its biggest names across the Atlantic and into the bassbins of America. Van M also masterminded the Sasha and John Digweed residency at New York's Twilo club and their stadium Delta Heavy U.S Tour in 2002. As support DJ in both instances he became one of the most revered and envied warm-up jocks in the business. But constantly playing second on the bill has left prog fans curious about Van M's own DJ sound. 'Balance 10' looks set to fill that void as EQ's Tom Pandzic explains:
"Jimmy Van M is a DJ that we've always earmarked to compile a Balance CD. He's definitely contributed a lot to the dance music scene and we're very honoured and excited to able to provide the medium for Jimmy to showcase his musical tastes, both past and present."
'Balance 10' will be Jimmy Van M's first mix compilation since his Bedrock double CD back in 2001. He joins Paolo Mojo, Desyn Masiello and Chris Fortier as recent Balance picks. 'Balance 10' will be released on EQ/Stomp on October 30th, 2006.
