  • Ladyfag's Pride event, LadyLand, is coming back to New York for its fifth edition. Starting at 8 PM on June 23rd at Under the K Bridge in Brooklyn, the festival will host three stages of music, one for emerging DJs and two with a mix of live and DJ sets. In between sets, attendees can visit a marketplace that spotlights queer designers, get their nails done, take pictures in the photo booth or snack at a food truck. The move to the new venue was inspired by London's Junction 2 Festival. Ladyfag told Resident Advisor that the space both reminds her of the UK festival and feels more true to New York. This year, the schedule features DJ sets from Honey Dijon, Memphy, Occupy The Disco and more, as well as live performances from the likes of Peaches, Junglepussy, Big Freedia and Rebecca Black. Headliner Honey Dijon has been part of the festival since its inception. "It's a tradition in New York that we hold very dear," Ladyfag said. "Even though she's obviously grown to a very big success, it's a very testament to how she believes in her roots. To always do Pride with me, it's very flattering and very nice for New York City." LadyLand differs from Ladyfag's other events because "this always really feels like a unifying moment," she explained. "It's political and a party all in one. There's definitely an underlying feeling of queerness that, normally, we don't stop and think about or feel, totally proving partying can be political and enjoyable at the same time."
