  • A new book exploring Detroit's musical and social history from the 1960s onwards is out today, April 11th. Written by Detroit-based author Joe Molloy, Acid Detroit: A Psychedelic Story of Motor City Music examines the city's reputation as a hotbed of activism and sonic innovation. It looks at the local garage rock, techno and hip-hop scenes, among others. Drawing on the events of the past as a means of predicting the future, Acid Detroit expands on Mark Fisher's concept of acid communism, the idea of breaking free from the present myopia and reimagining a radical, post-capitalist future. Acid Detroit is out now on Repeater Books. Order it here.
