  • Elijah & Jammz are releasing a grime album based on Elijah's yellow squares social media project. Out June 30th, Make The Ting sees Hackney rapper Jammz transforming Elijah's nuggets of music industry advice into fully blown verses. The record features beats by Royal-T, DJ Q, Jack Dat, Gesher, Hitman Tiga & Insomniak, Cory Syx and Blay Vision. The full tracklist is still TBA. "Across Zoom and iMessage in 14 days we went from idea to writing and recording," Elijah wrote on Instagram. "The speed of turnaround was part of the creative challenge for both of us [...] We will be developing this project in real time, there is no 'plan.' Nobody knows what's going to happen next." The album follows last year's single "Yellow Square," a new version of Blay Vision's 2022 grime hit "Cammy Riddim" by Elijah and Jammz. This was the first release on new label Make The Ting—the forthcoming album is the second. Launched in January 2022, Elijah's yellow squares series has led to workshops, talks and a post at London university SOAS, among other projects. He also guest-edited a month of features for Resident Advisor last March. Listen to "Close The App," and read Elijah's Instagram post, which includes some preview clips.
