  • A new listening bar is opening in Berlin next month. Launched by the Analogue Foundation, Bar Neiro will officially open its doors on April 6th. Located on Ohmstraße in Mitte, it's the sister venue of Brewery Studios, a nearby recording studio also run by the Analogue Foundation. Bar Neiro has been built and designed by recording engineer Erik Breuer, with acoustic design by longtime collaborator Imar Sanmarti of Acousthink. While Breuer and Sanmarti have built more than 20 recording studios together around the world, Bar Neiro is their first listening bar. Breuer also built Bar Neiro's custom hi-fi system, which is made up of premium vintage components such as Altec A5 speakers, Garrard 301 turntables and a Shindo amplifier. In true Japanese audiophile fashion, the speakers are built with original components from the 1950s that used to be found in the sound systems of film theatres. "We're really proud of our system and space, which have truly been built with love," Breuer told Resident Advisor. "From the vintage components we've sourced for Bar Neiro, to the cutting lathe we're about to import from Japan for the studio, we're interested in the ways that analogue equipment makes creating, recording and listening to music special." He continued: "The ethos of analogue is one of craft, attention, care and beauty–we're looking forward to hosting guest selectors and bar patrons who enjoy this ethos as much as we do."
