  • pi pi pi, a mix series run by Brooklyn-based artist deep creep, is launching a label of the same name. Active since 2018, pi pi pi began as a Facebook group for sharing music before evolving into a mix series and premiering platform. It spotlights electronic music from all around the globe, with a particular focus on New York. 85 artists have contributed so far, including Roza Terenzi, Ron Like Hell and Kiernan Laveaux. Speaking to Resident Advisor, deep creep said the label will follow a similar arrangement to the series. "I thought the label was the next step for it," she said. "My goal for the label is continuing the platform in a physical form and building new relationships." The first release is Slipstream, a four-track EP by fellow New York resident (and previous mix guest) Oscar Huang. Along with the digital release, the EP will be available on CD, which was inspired by deep creep's Y2K upbringing. "It's more so in the idea of the archive and where that physical format ends up in 20-30 years," she said. "With a CD, it's always the perfect rip." deep creep said Huang was the ideal artist to launch the label because he'd been sitting on a number of tracks that he kept sending to her for mixes. "If I'm going to embark on this journey, I want to do it with a friend," she said. "I'm so lucky to be surrounded by so many talented people who don't necessarily have the platform." A limited-edition Slipstream keychain will also be available soon on Bandcamp. Listen to "No Phones On The Dancefloor," and browse the mix series.
