- The 400-capacity space will launch this month.
The team behind Berlin venues Salon Zur Wilden Renate and ELSE is opening a new club.
M01 sits on the north side of Renate's building—the entrance is on Markgrafendamm 1. The 400-capacity space is split across two floors and three rooms: a 150-capacity dance floor downstairs, plus a chill-out area and space for live music, exhibitions and installations upstairs. The club room features a Lambda Labs sound system.
"While there are plenty of big clubs in Berlin, the city needs small venues for the community of DIY promoters and collectives here," said M01 booking director, Alessandro Boni "We want to allow small, independently funded promoters to curate their own parties without the financial risk of working in larger spaces. So, M01 provides both an intimate setting and a financially viable opportunity to support their ideas."
Upcoming events at M01 are still TBA. The club said people can expect a broad range of sounds, including house, techno and electro.
Launched in 2007, Renate sits in a former apartment block in Friedrichshain. ELSE, the team's open-air summer venue, is right across the street.
