  • Copenhagen's Jolene will reopen later this month after being bought by the team behind neighbouring venue Baggen. Jolene confirmed the news via Instagram on Wednesday, March 22nd. "Jolene is ready for a new chapter in her life and with new people on board," the post read. "We're looking forward to seeing you at our first party on March 31st." Jolene has been closed since January, following allegations of gross misconduct that led to a mass staff walkout. In a collective statement, backed by all Jolene employees and posted online, staff members aimed a catalogue of misconduct accusations at then-owner, Kristian Gøtrik, including abuse, assault, manipulation and late payment of wages. (Gøtrik failed to respond to Resident Advisor's request for comment.) Jolene published another Instagram post yesterday, March 23rd, which reiterated that the club "has been bought by a new administration with no connection to the old one." The post continued: "We've decided to keep the name Jolene because of the venue's great meaning and impact on Copenhagen nightlife for the past 16 years. Back when Jolene opened in 2007, we were inspired by their way of doing a nightclub differently and we would love to keep that as an inspiration moving forward." Kasper Bjorke and Prom Night will play next Friday's reopening. The age limit is 23 years old. (The same goes for Saturday nights, though it's 21 on Thursdays.)
