  • Renowned Ibiza DJ Renato Gimani, AKA Renè, has died aged 47. The news was announced yesterday, February 26th, by Corriere della Sera. The Italian artist passed away at Rome's Tor Vergata hospital due to heart complications caused by a congenital malformation–a condition he had been living with since childhood. Born in Rome in the late '70s, Renè took up DJing as a teenager after moving to the town of Riccione on the Adriatic coast. He played regularly at clubs in the area, such as Peter Pan, Titilla and Cocoricò, before taking up a residency at Contatto in Bologna. After moving to Ibiza in 2000, he was asked to play at Circoloco, a then-nascent club night at newly opened superclub DC-10. He went on to become a longstanding resident, helping Circoloco become one of the island's most beloved parties. Read some tributes to Renè.
