  • A new campaign is giving young people from Berlin the chance to access cultural spaces—including some nightclubs—for free. Launched on Wednesday, February 1st, the Jugendkulturkarte offers €50 credit to anyone registered in Berlin between the ages of 18 and 23. This can be spent at a wide range of cultural centres, including theatres, museums, galleries, cinemas and nightclubs. Participating venues include Gretchen, Ritter Butzke, Cassiopeia, AVA Club, BUSCHE Club, Klunkerkranich, Prachtwerk, Schwuz and So36. "The Jugendkulturkarte is a great tool to enable young Berliners, who are currently feeling the pressure of inflation or rising rents, to participate in Berlin's culture," Clubcommission Berlin's Lutz Leichsenring told Resident Advisor. "We're happy that clubs and music venues are participating in the campaign. We see this as an important signal of recognition of Berlin's clubs as cultural venues and for access to culture even for those on a tight budget." To access the Jugendkulturkarte—which is a collaboration between Kulturprojekte Berlin and the Senate Department for Culture and Europe—you only need to be registered to live in Berlin. You don't need a German passport. You can register online before collecting the card at a local library. Find out more.
