  • A Kickstarter campaign has been launched for a new book on high-fidelity audio pioneer Paul W. Klipsch. Set up today, January 31st, by New York label and fanzine Love Injection, the campaign is raising funds to publish Dope From Hope, a book focusing on Klipsch's audio-themed newsletters of the same name. The book reproduces the newsletter in its actual dimensions. "We're ready to bring a piece of history to life," the Kickstarter said. "For the first time ever, the cult audio newsletters by Paul W. Klipsch, entitled the Dope From Hope, will be compiled in high-resolution into a beautiful hardcover, 300-page art book–exclusively via this campaign." The coffee-table book will contain Klipsch's full collection of newsletters, draft papers, sketches, captions and indices. It's also been given the blessing of the Klipsch Museum of Audio History. Klipsch's original newsletter, which began in 1960, contained his frank opinions on audio. Published on a mimeographed broadside, it featured several of his designs, critiques of audio manufacturers and his signature brand of dry humour. Known for changing the face of the audio industry, Klipsch's flagship product, the Klipschorn, remains the longest consistently produced loudspeaker in history. Its reputation was further enhanced thanks to David Mancuso's legendary loft parties, where it was the speaker of choice. The Kickstarter campaign, which runs for 30 days, was initially scheduled for 2020 but got delayed due to the pandemic. You can donate now. Watch a promotional video.
