  • Legendary reggae and dub techno vocalist Paul St. Hilaire, AKA Tikiman, is releasing his first solo album since 2006. Out on March 31st, Tikiman Vol.1 was produced at the Dominican artist's Kreuzberg studio, which contains his collection of vintage hardware, self-built instruments and lyric notebooks. The nine-track LP spans dub, dancehall and more, exploring themes such as education, displacement and personal VS global histories. Through its lyrics, the album also reflects on life between Dominica—particularly St. Hilaire's hometown of Grand Bay—and Berlin, where he has lived and worked since 1994. It was here that he met Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus, AKA Rhythm & Sound. Available digitally and on vinyl, Tikiman Vol.1 will come out through Berlin's Kynant EX, the non-dance floor sub-label of Kynant Records. This will be the outlet's third release, following 2021 EPs by O Yuki Conjugate and Niknak. Listen to "Little Way" in full via Bandcamp and snippets of the whole album via SoundCloud.
