  • London audiophile venue Spiritland Royal Festival Hall, AKA Spiritland Diner, is closing on Friday, January 13th. The team confirmed the news earlier today in a Twitter thread, saying "Covid-19, Brexit, energy price rises and many other factors made this difficult decision inevitable." The post continued: "We opened at the end of 2018, spent 2019 finding our people—then 2020 happened. We were shut for nearly half of our four years there but managed to do a lot in a short time." Offering food, drinks and exceptional sound, Spiritland Diner features a Living Voice sound system, complemented by a rotary mixer, Klipsch Cornwall speakers and the EMT broadcast turntables from beloved former club Plastic People. The venue's weekly DJ-focussed party Spiritland By Night hosted a slew of top-tier acts over the years, including Honey Dijon, Josey Rebelle, François K, Sasha, Laurent Garnier and Fabio & Grooverider. Next Friday's closing night will feature DJ sets from Jarvis Cocker and Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor, who both played the venue's opening in 2018. Spiritland's other spaces—King's Cross, Mayfair and Spiritland Productions—are staying open. Read Spiritland's Twitter thread.
