  • House music pioneer Jesse Saunders is in hospital after suffering a "major stroke," according to his crew, The Chosen Few DJs. The legendary Chicago house collective, which includes Saunders, Mike Dunn and founder Wayne Williams, broke the news via Instagram over the weekend. "We have to sadly share some difficult news and ask for your prayers and support," the crew wrote. "Our brother Jesse Saunders has suffered a major stroke and is currently hospitalised in the Las Vegas area. Jesse will likely be facing a long and difficult rehab, and will need the love and support of the house music community to which he has given much. Please keep Jesse in your prayers. Thank you." Saunders formally joined The Chosen Few DJs in 1977, the same year it was founded. He's best known for his 1984 track "On And On," which is considered one of the first house records ever.
