  • Resident Advisor's video essay Why Drexciya took Detroit electro underwater is being screened at the Barbican Centre next month. Scheduled for Thursday, December 1st, Rolling in the Deep: Mer-Creatures and Mythology in Global Cinema will explore different representations of mer creatures and the significance of water as a poetic and political space. Themes include queerness, ecology and post-colonialism. Starting at 6:20 PM in Cinema 2, the evening will span six short films from Italy, the UK, Ghana and the Philippines, plus a poetry reading, a Q&A panel and a feature film from Mexico, which will be available online after the event.
