  • Yu Su is hosting an evening of Chinese food and music in collaboration with a restaurant in Vancouver next month. Taking place on December 7th at Ubuntu Canteen, an organic restaurant and community space in the Fraserhood area, the two-hour experience will feature a five-course set dinner prepared by chef Dave Gunawan and his team. Each dish will originate from a different region of China (Suzhou, Shunde, Henan, Yunnan and Silk Road), and will be paired with field recordings from that region and original music by Yu Su. "In Zulu language, 'Ubuntu' means 'people are people through other people,' and that is the base idea of this cooking collaboration," Yu Su told Resident Advisor. "It will be a collective experience where guests are taken on a journey of senses that in reality has become quite impossible because of the recent political situations in my homeland of China." In terms of releases, Yu Su recently appeared on Duval Timothy's new album, Meeting With A Judas Tree, and also remixed tracks from Tourist and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard earlier in the year.
