Hong Kong is finally loosening strict Covid-19 rules on live entertainment in bars and clubs.
As of October 20th, artists will officially be allowed to perform indoors but must take two PCR tests every week as well as a rapid antigen test before entering the venue, officials recently announced. Performers and dancers must also wear masks as much as possible, according to the new rule.
Live music has been largely banned since April 2020 except for certain periods in between. Hong Kong has experienced multiple waves of Covid-19, with the most recent one occurring early last month when daily cases topped the 10,000 mark. In recent weeks however, authorities have eased several rules, including scrapping mandatory hotel quarantine for all arrivals. Today, October 18th, caps on public gatherings increased to 12 from four previously.
