Berlin club Watergate celebrates 20 years with parties, compilation, streetwear range

- Berlin club Watergate is celebrating its 20th anniversary with various parties, a merch range and a compilation. October is the official birthday month, with Richie Hawtin, Maceo Plex, ANNA, Acid Pauli and Solomun booked to play the riverside club. Watergate will also host a showcase at ADE on October 21st. Also in October, Watergate will release a streetwear range—T-shirts, hoodies, tracksuits etc—in partnership with Kreuzberg brand Irie Daily. The merch will be available online, at the club or in selected Irie Daily stores. The following month, Watergate will release Watergate 20 Years, a 20-track, triple-vinyl compilation that will also be released digitally featuring new music by Anja Schneider, Adana Twins, Joplyn, Henrik Schwarz, Mia Mendi, JAMIIE and more. Watergate, considered one of Berlin's most popular and iconic clubs, was opened on October 26th, 2002, by Steffen "Stoffel" Hack, Ulrich Wombacher and Niklas Eichstädt. "We completely rebuilt the building," said Wombacher. "From the beginning, we felt the magic that this place right by the river unfolds—especially in the morning hours."
