  • South by South Sonic Serenade is a new performance showcase in Berlin focussing on collaboration between local artists from Southeast Asian and South American backgrounds. Every month from August through October, artists from each culture will perform a joint, improvised set at a different venue. These sessions will be recorded live and presented on a digital-only compilation album, which will be available for free in December. First up on August 27th is AnaRosa and Tanat Teeradakorn, followed by Dea Karina and Connie Mandale. On September 24th, Kei Watanabe and qeei will perform together, as well as Debbie Chia and Verónica Mota. Carla Boregas and ghaliz will play on October 28th, as will messyfingers and Marcioz. In addition to the shows, a day of talks on sound practices and socio-political issues that impact music-making is scheduled for November 16th. Developed by Berlin collectives soydivison, L-KW and Midnight Shift, South by South Sonic Serenade is an offshoot of soyandsynth, a monthly gig of experimental music and food held by soydivision and L-KW.
