The LP is out through Four Tet's label on October 21st.
The next full-length release on Four Tet's Text Records is the debut album by British-Armenian producer Hagop Tchaparian.
Out October 21st, Bolts spans ten tracks of rhythmic techno mixed with field recordings of Tchaparian's experience of Armenian and Mediterranean culture, gathered over a 15-year period.
"I love synthesizers and music gear but there are some sounds that I hear around me as I go about my life that make me sit up and really pay attention," said Tchaparian. "I try to capture as much of them as I can and have used them as the main building blocks of the album. I need music to mean something to me otherwise I'm not as interested."
Following a spell playing guitar in '90s post-grunge punk band Symposium, Tchaparian first connected with Four Tet via London's club scene before becoming his—and Hot Chip's—tour manager. "I got to travel and observe them and many others at festivals, clubs and shows creating these special unforgettable moments," he said.
When he began making music, Tchaparian received guidance from Caribou guitarist Ryan Smith, Sasha's engineer Dennis White and legendary Belgian producer Michel "Shelle" Dierickx, among others. On Saturday, August 13th, he will perform live for the first time at Four Tet's Finsbury Park takeover in London.
The artwork for Bolts is by skateboard, music and sports photography legend Atiba Jefferson. Listen to new track "Round" and previous singles "Raining" and "GL."
