  • Real Feel Records is a new house music label that’s focused on US-based artists. Based out of Washington, D.C, it launches on August 29th with Brown Cocoa Skin, an EP by DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist Toribio, AKA the frontman of Conclave. Playing the organ, Rhodes piano and various kinds of percussion such as the tambora, the New York-based talent draws on the funky, jazzy spectrum of deep house. The EP also features a DJ Spinna remix. Founded by Martín Miguel Fernandez of Better Listen Records, Real Feel aims to "blend old and new in paying tribute to the roots of US house music," he told Resident Advisor. "For a while now, Europe has dominated dance music; controlling much of the pressing, distribution, hype, production and promotion machinery," he continued, adding how he's witnessed "a lot of the appropriation and imbalance that weighs heavily on the industry of underground dance music." Pressed and self-distributed out of the US, Real Feel is focused on elevating Black, Latinx, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI), women and TLGBQ artists. In addition to the releases, the label also plans to host parties at D.C venues such as Eighteenth Street Lounge, as well as DIY spaces. Listen to "No Requests."
