  • GAIKA's latest project is an audiovisual installation at London's Design District in partnership with British artist Ben Cullen Williams. Running from August 22nd through September 3rd and curated by NOW Gallery, Routine will explore the relationship between humans and cities through film and sound. A custom instrument built by audio brand L-Acoustics will interact with visitors, creating a score in real-time. The sound will be in L-ISA, a technology that L-Acoustics calls "immersive hyperreal sound." "I'm city-made, born and bred," said GAIKA. "I'm fascinated by the relationship we have with the built environment, the emotional dependency we have developed on these large inanimate objects and our trajectory through them." Williams added: "When we think about sustainability we are often drawn to images of green forests and natural environments. But this project discusses another core issue: what is our humane relationship with the built environments that we exist in, is it sustainable for humanity in the long run?" Routine is the latest collaboration from GAIKA and Williams, following last year's Cold Flux project. Design District is a collection of 16 buildings set in the heart of Greenwich Peninsula. In fact, it's curated by the gallery at C1, Design District.
