  • Ibiza-based multimedia facility Vitalik Studios has opened to the public. Spearheaded by Ryan O Gorman, who runs the Vitalik label and parties, the soundproofed, custom-built space sits just outside Ibiza Town. It spans seven units and includes soundproofed recording studios, editing suites, a broadcast suite and a workshop. Units are available to hire hourly, daily or monthly. "I've been trying to learn new media technology skills—sound engineering, audiovisual stuff etc.—but there isn't anywhere on the island to do it," director O Gorman, who has lived in Ibiza since 1999, told Resident Advisor. "There's a real need for further education in digital arts. As much for myself as for others, I wanted to create a creative hub to contribute a little culture on an increasingly commercial island." More than a hire space, Vitalik Studios is a "space where people can meet up and learn and connect—the creative hub of Ibiza," O Gorman added. According to the press release, the studios will cater to anyone interested in Web3, NFTs, VR / metaverse, sound therapy and immersive cinema, as well as radio, podcast and music production. Artists currently working from the facility include Ben Westbeech, Kryder and former RA Podcaster Cici. Light and sound therapist Gavin McKenzie is working on his Audyssey project in collaboration with Concept Electrical Installations. "My brother, Richard O Gorman, cofounder of pownft.com, has also joined the Vitalik Studios team," said O Gorman. "We're tapping into his extensive knowledge and experience of blockchain and NFTs and he is helping to guide us through the complex world of distributed ledger technology."
