- On June 24th, a blaze tore through the NESTLER complex, which has housed the venue for almost 13 years. No one was injured.
Dresden club Sektor Evolution has been damaged in a fire.
On the evening of Friday, June 24th, a huge blaze tore through the NESTLER complex, which, as well as Sektor, houses workshops, rehearsal rooms, offices, rental units and more. Though firefighters saved the club from being destroyed, some damage is expected. Public access has been denied at least for the rest of the week.
"According to [Mr. Nestler's] statements and those of Nestler employees who were in the building, the rehearsal rooms are not or only minimally damaged," Sektor Evolution wrote on Facebook. "In the basements, there are puddles of water only in the corridors, and no water damage is expected in the rooms. Heat damage is also said to be minimal, with damage only expected in the rooms directly adjacent to the hall."
To support Sektor's return, the team has set up a crowdfunder via Betterplace. So far, they've raised more than €20,000 of their €30,000 goal. "The use of the money is currently still unclear in detail and depends on whether and how things will continue," Sektor wrote. "However, we will keep you constantly informed about the developments."
According to Dresden's official website, the fire broke out in a warehouse in the west side of the complex. The flames soon began spreading east and several explosions were heard. Though people had to be evacuated, no one was injured. More than 100 firefighters were deployed.
Opened in 2009, Sektor is a popular spot known for its industrial aesthetic and techno bookings. Past guests include Lady Starlight, Adam X and SNTS. In 2021, the team set up a label, also called Sektor Evolution. It's unclear when the club will reopen.
