  • Ayman Rostom, AKA The Maghreban, has tapped a range of collaborators for his second album. Arriving July 15th via his Zoot Records label, Connection features Kenya-based rapper Nah Eeto, composer Abdullah Miniawy, saxophonist Idris Rahman and singer-songwriter Omar. Like Rostam's previous records, the ten-track LP touches on Middle Eastern music while also incorporating jazz, techno and vocal house. "It's called Connection because I was seeking and becoming more comfortable with connection while making it, rather than keeping myself to myself, like I have done in the past," Rostom said. "But the flip side of that was a deeper awareness of grief and sorrow, which is why some of the tracks have an air of sadness." Connection is Rostom's first full-length since 2018's 01deas. In between, he released the 2019 EP Islands. For a refresher on Rostom's transition from hip-hop artist to house music producer, revisit our feature from 2015.
