  • Kode9 has a new album on the way through Hyperdub. The first LP in a two-part project, Escapology is the soundtrack to sonic-fiction work Astro-Darien, which is out through Hyperdub's book imprint, Flatlines, in October. The wider project launched last year with an audiovisual installation at London's Corsica Studios and a multi-speaker performance at the INA-GRM in Paris. Escapology, which spans 15 tracks, will be available digitally and on CD from July 15th, with the vinyl to follow. The artwork for both the album and Astro-Darien is by Kode9's long-time collaborators Lawrence Lek (digital world design) and Optigram (typography and graphics). Kode9's last album, Nothing, came out in 2015. In 2021, he released The Jackpot / Rona City Blues, his first solo EP in six years. Astro-Darien will be the second release on Flatlines following the late Mark Fisher and Justin Barton's audio essay, On Vanishing Land, in 2019. Here's a teaser for "Torus," the lead track from Escapology.
