  • Club Toilet, a long-running queer afterparty at Detroit’s Movement Festival, is back. Returning for its first edition since 2019, this year's event is scheduled for May 28th at its usual location, Menjo's Complex. Several US-based queer DJs are on the lineup, including Ariel Zetina, Clarisa Kimskii and Dee Diggs. Menjo's is a special venue for Club Toilet because it has "100 years of queer energy," said one of the party's organizers, Detroit DJ Jeffrey Sfire. "That block has been queer venues from '20s supper clubs to lesbian book stores to bath houses to '80s restaurants." Launched by Chris Cruse of Los Angeles-based queer party Spotlight, Aaron Clark of Honcho, Sfire and Ryan Smith, Club Toilet has traditionally taken place on the first night of Movement Festival.
