  • Beloved Tokyo club Contact is closing in September. According to a statement released by the team earlier today, March 24th, the building housing the club is due to be knocked down as part of an urban redevelopment project. Contact will shut for good on Saturday, September 17th. "Unfortunately, nothing concrete has been decided yet regarding our future status," said the statement. "We have only half a year left, but it would mean a great deal for us to have as many people make as many memorable nights as possible with the time we have left." Next month, Contact will celebrate its anniversary for the first time in three years. There are two parties planned, starting on Friday, April 22nd, with various local DJs and live acts, including O.N.O, Dos Monos and Atsushi Maeda. The following night, DJ Harvey, the club's first international guest since the start of the pandemic, will play all night long in the main room, Studio X. Opened in 2016, Contact quickly became one of Tokyo's most popular clubs, hosting Laurent Garnier, Ken Ishii, Batu, Tijana T and countless others.
