  • Batu is releasing his debut album next month. Spanning 11 tracks, Opal focuses on the melodic and textural aspects of percussive techno. Using coastal landscapes and mineral matter as inspiration, the LP marks a departure from the dance floor cuts that usually permeate the Bristol artist's DJ sets and EPs. Due April 29th via Batu's Timedance label, nearly a decade after his first 12-inch, Opal features instrumentation by fellow Bristolian act memotone as well as vocals by serpentwithfeet on "Solace." Opal follows a string of 12-inches by Batu for labels like Fringe White and Timedance. His most recent release was I Own Your Energy from late last year. Listen to "Atavism."
