A range of New York dance music artists are featured on the latest compilation from Brooklyn label toucan sounds.
The digital-only Playground Compilation (Vol. 3) consists of seventeen tracks that touch on techno, house, disco and dub, among other styles. Contributors include Haruka Salt, The Bunker affiliate Love Letters, Toribio, John Barera, Matt FX, Escaflowne and more. The LP arrives on April 1st, with all proceeds going directly to the artists.
Playground Compilation (Vol. 3) aims to "encapsulate the underground sound of New York City, with many of the tracks and contributors deeply rooted in its musical lifeblood," the label described in a statement. To celebrate the release, it's hosting a party with the featured acts at public records on May 5th.
toucan sounds was established in 2019 by the duo French Horn Rebellion, who run the YouTooCanWoo recording studio where the compilation was put together. The label's recent output includes EPs by Shifting Gears, AKA Hoshina Anniversary and indie pop artist Glassio.
