  • A new venue for electronic music is set to open in Cardiff next month. Carpe Noctem is taking over the space that used to be cabaret venue Minsky's Showbar, which closed in March 2020 after running for over 25 years. The club will have a capacity of 300 and a licence to run until 4 AM. "Carpe Noctem means 'seize the night,' which is fitting for the hospitality sector as we all emerge from lockdown," the venue said on Instagram. "The club has undergone some major renovations since closing in 2020, with large bespoke murals and artwork from local artists adorning the walls, an upgraded soundsystem and a cocktail bar spanning over 12 metres. Our aim as a nightclub is to take people back to the origins and essence of dance music." The club is set to open in late February. Information on programming and opening parties is still TBA.
