  • Skee Mask has removed all his albums and EPs from Spotify. "It's done, all my shit is gone from Spotify," Bryan Müller wrote in a statement, posted yesterday, January 2nd, via social media. All that remains are remixes and a couple compilation tracks. "My music will be available there again as soon as this company starts (somehow) becoming honest & respectful towards music makers," he added. Müller has been openly critical of Spotify and its controversial royalty payment system for years. His last album, Pool, wasn't available on the platform. In the statement, Müller also mentions "their €100 million," which is likely a reference to Spotify CEO Daniel Ek's recent investment in AI defence tech company Helsing. All of Skee Mask's releases have come out on Munich outlet Ilian Tape, which has also removed its entire back catalogue from Spotify. Here's a tweet from the label. Read Skee Mask's statement in full.
Update, January 3rd: This piece was updated at 5:10 PM GMT to add that Ilian Tape, the label that releases Skee Mask's music, has removed its entire back catalogue from Spotify.
