  • A new digital music store specialising in dubstep and other 140 BPM genres is now open. Launched earlier this month, 140 Plates bills itself as the "first-ever download store strictly for dubstep / 140." Belgian founder Pieter Grauwels, who set up dubstep platform duploc.com in 2012, followed by the DUPLOC label in 2015, curates the site, which also stocks grime and trap. Tracks are available for 90p (mp3) or £1.35 (WAV), with all profits going straight back into the dubstep scene, according to the press release. Artists will also receive a higher percentage of sales than other digital stores, with 140 Plates taking "roughly three times less." "We've already welcomed a huge amount of signups," Grauwels told Resident Advisor, "and have especially noticed that our Explore feature, where we highlight releases that are older but still relevant, is working. Customers are discovering tracks that may have passed them by and this is breathing a new lease of life into music well beyond the previously short-lived, traditional promo timeline."
