- The grime MC's death was confirmed earlier today.
DJ Scholar has died.
The grime MC became a vital member of Ruff Sqwad, the DIY crew of East London MCs, DJs and producers, when he joined the collective in 2004. News of his death was announced earlier today, though the causes of his death remain unknown.
The event has inspired an outpouring of condolences from fans and fellow DJs on social media. Most notably, Pyro Radio and Balamii resident (and friend) DJ Jedah shared via Twitter, "I feel sick to the stomach. To find out my boy Scholar has passed away has destroyed me," he said.
"Even recently I was speaking to him on the phone near enough every night till the late hours," he continued. "I know he was fighting his demons and I did my best to keep him positive and not lose focus..."
