- It's out January 29th via Gqom Oh!.
Gqom Oh! will release Dominowe's next EP in January.
On UMTHAKATHI, which spans eight tracks, the gqom pioneer "took a whole different approach to production," he told Resident Advisor. "I don't just express my style of hardcore gqom. I use melodies and basslines that subconsciously make you feel good."
The EP also features Dominowe's vocals for the first time. "There are two songs where you get to hear me use my words," he told RA "Especially in the song 'Woza,' the lyrics are in Zulu and translate to: 'Let's go dance as if we got no place to sleep, everybody is dancing so don't you dare sit down.'"
UMTHAKATHI is also in Zulu, combining the words "thaka" ("mix") and "muthi" (medicine). The EP follows last year's Away From Home LP, which was released ahead of schedule to raise money to repair Dominowe's home studio after a break-in.
Listen to lead single "Zulu In War."
