  • Manchester International Festival has £10,000 available to support musicians and creatives in Greater Manchester. Launched in 2020 during the pandemic, the MIF Sounds initiative returns for another round of funding. The ten successful applicants will each receive £1,000, plus access to peer-to-peer support, networking opportunities and more. "The backing from MIF Sounds enabled me to commit to work outside of my comfort zone," says Swing Ting cofounder Balraj Singh Samrai, who used the funding to write a new record called Someone Died Today. "There was support, feedback and encouragement from the rest of the Sounds cohort and MIF team throughout the creative process." Applications are now open and will close at midday on Thursday, December 16th. Anyone interested can attend an online meeting at 6:30 PM on November 29th, when the selection panel will offer advice on applying. The winners will be revealed in January 2022. Apply here.
