  • Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja, AKA 3D, is working on a new AI system built to flag climate misinformation online. Targeting Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, Eco-Bot.Net flags "greenwashing" ads, which the team describes as "a tactic used to mislead consumers about the green credentials of a product or service, or about the environmental performance of a company." To date, the system has flagged 1,369 social posts containing false or misleading information.
Alongside 3D, the project was created by artist-researcher Bill Posters and Dale Vince, founder of green energy company Ecotricity. On the website, consumers can observe how information is manipulated in real time. During the COP26 climate summit alone, Eco-Bot.Net has exposed corporate greenwashing from COP26 sponsors, energy companies and carbon-major companies. Watch a trailer about the project, and find out more on the website.
In September, Massive Attack launched their Roadmap To Super Low Carbon Live Music.
