  • Ambient Flo, the 24-hour online radio station founded by Auntie Flo, is turning one. The Glasgow artist is celebrating the anniversary with an all-day party at East London's Brilliant Corners on November 21st. He'll play a tabla and raga drone set alongside Rathisa (AKA Sarathy Korwar), with Jay Carder also billed. In addition, Ambient Flo is publishing a printed, limited-edition zine featuring interviews with all the past year's curators—KMRU, Gigi Masin, Heidi Lawden, James Holden, Nicola Cruz, Azu Tiwaline, Patricia Wolf and more—plus articles on music and mental health. The zine will be available to Patreon subscribers. A handful of next year's curators have also been revealed, with slots for Richard Norris, Eris Drew and Orpheu The Wizard. "I've had a lot of life traumas in the past 12 months, losing my dad, uncle and aunt (the OG Auntie Flo) as well as having to deal with the implications of Covid-19," says Auntie Flo. "This music was my therapy, my escape and it's now become part of my daily routine." He continues: "What we need now, is to use year one as a launch pad to grow our community of fellow music lovers and continue getting behind this and to show their love of music by listening, sharing and supporting us via Patreon. The project, although not yet sustainable, is open and ready to become a viable revenue stream for the 1000s of artists we've featured over the year, as we move into the next." Launched in November 2020, Ambient Flo invites different artists each month to curate ambient and downtempo playlists. Find out more about the project here.
