  • DJ, producer and live performer Dave Aju has started his own label. Elbow Grease, based in Los Angeles where Aju resides, describes itself as "genre-defiant." Its first offering is an EP called X17 courtesy of Aju himself. Due November 5th, it features three versions of one track that touch on a variety of club styles, including house, electro and breaks. The release, available on vinyl and digital, was recorded at G-Son Studios, a now-defunct recording facility built by the Beastie Boys. X17 follows a string of 12-inches from Aju. These include last year's Ciao Sun and 2019's TXLAX, which both came out on Mule Musiq, as well as 2018's Off Weed Or Sane. Read our review of the latter record. Listen to the first track off X17.
