  • Rainbow Disco Club is back to multi-day programming this weekend. After cancelling its 2020 edition and a 24-hour party earlier this year, the revered Japanese festival is now going ahead with a two-day gathering across October 30th and 31st. It features an all-local lineup, including DJ sets from CHIDA, Haruka, Licaxxx, Yoshinori Hayashi, Wata Igarashi, Sobriety, DJ Nobu, Elli Arakawa and Chee Shimizu, while Kuniyuki and Sauce81 are teaming up for a live set. Foodman is also playing live. "The state of emergency was lifted in October, so now we're basically able to hold events as long as they meet the requirements," RDC's cofounder Masahiro Tsuchiya told local magazine Tokion earlier this month. "Since 2020, we've repeatedly planned the event and then cancelled or postponed. So despite the difficult emotions, we've finally made it to this point." The music will start at 9 AM and end at 9 PM on both days, in line with the festival's traditional daytime schedule. The entire event will also be livestreamed and digitally archived until November 7th. Instead of its usual location on the Izu Peninsula, this weekend's event is happening at Chidori Park, a waterfront park that's a 30-minute drive from Tokyo. Strict safety protocols are in place for this weekend's gathering, including proof of vaccination or a negative test result. For more details, check the event listing below.
