  • Soundwatch Berlin Music Film Festival is screening Give Up On Hope And Dreams, the film Resident Advisor made in collaboration with Terre Thaemlitz. Planned for November 17th, the English-language screening will take place at Lichtblick-Kino in Prenzlauer Berg. Thaemlitz will sit for a virtual Q&A after the film, which begins at 10:30 PM CET. Directed by RA's former head of films, Patrick Nation, Give Up On Hope And Dreams isn't your typical artist-led documentary. Instead, it's a surreal and philosophical discussion of objects between Thaemlitz and various friends and collaborators, including activist Dont Rhine, translator and lawyer Izumi Yoshida, and producer and artist Mark Fell. "For me, the kind of worst nightmare would be ending up with a film that's somehow a construction of an artistic figure that had this singularity and a kind of growth path," Thaemlitz said. "That would be the wrong way to go about attempting to document my work." Watch Give Up On Hope And Dreams.
