  • Nine Nights is hosting a daytime workshop and evening panel discussion in Manchester on Friday, October 29th. Cofounders GAIKA, GLORIA and Shannen SP will lead a daytime workshop (10 AM through 5 PM) at Contact Theatre covering production and songwriting. There will also be a music feedback session with industry experts including the Nine Nights founders. Forming part of Contact's Future Matter series, the evening discussion (7 PM through 11 PM) will centre on the question: "Can a small music ecosystem affect large-scale culture change?" The panel includes musicians Lady Ice, Abnormal Sleepz and Layfull Stop, plus Kay Wrate from Warp Publishing. Despa Robinson, TV producer and music entrepreneur, will be giving a keynote speech talking about his experiences in the industry. Founded in May 2020 by GAIKA, GLORIA, Shannen SP and Zara Truss-Giles, Nine Nights is a Black-owned music, art and creative education initiative working to counteract systemic racism in the music industry. Their new exhibition, Channel B, recently opened at the ICA in London. To book either event, visit Contact's website.
