  • What Makes A Club is a new workshop that aims to reimagine the physical space and functionality of nightclubs. Happening in Barcelona from November 8th to 12th, it consists of lectures, design labs and construction sessions in which participants will build a prototype club space. Hosted by Temporary Pleasure and the non-profit group Futch Club, the program will highlight the importance of marginalised voices in its interpretation of next-gen venues. "We've spent the last decade looking at clubs from inside and out and believe brick-and-mortar clubs are broken: too rigid, top-down – and disappearing," Temporary Pleasure said in a statement. "To preserve the right to dance in community we need to reimagine clubs – replacing rigid clubs, barriers-to-entry, and lost spaces – with fluid clubs, co-creation, and new beginnings." The workshop costs €80, with some spots reserved for participants in need of financial assistance. Applications close on October 24th. For information on how to apply, visit Temporary Pleasure's website.
