- Bartłomiej Kluska's work focuses on a short-lived but influential parade in Łódź.
A book about techno parades and subcultures in Łódź, Poland, is out now.
Written by Bartłomiej Kluska, Technowulkan – Freedom Parades In Łódź shows how the city was a hub for drum & bass, breaks and happy hardcore in the '90s. Running from 1996 through 2002, its annual Freedom Parade (Parada Wolności) attracted around 25,000 ravers before being banned by a conservative mayor, Jerzy Kropiwnicki. The 120-page book includes interviews with DJs and promoters, press cuttings and Kluska's own memories.
Another book about Polish techno, 30 Years Of Polish Techno Scene, has recently be converted into a theatre production.
