  • Global music charity In Place of War has launched a month-long fundraiser, sponsored by Pioneer DJ. Running from October 1st through 31st, Around The World In 80 Raves is a sponsored activity challenge open to anyone. In Place of War currently has projects in 26 countries, and participants can choose to collectively dance, walk, run, cycle or swim the distance around some of the current project locations (7,200 miles in total). Participants can win prizes, including equipment from Pioneer, Shambala Festival tickets, a Yahama BB234 bass guitar signed by Peter Hook and a set of Technics 1200 turntables used by Run The Jewels. Each weekend in October, In Place Of War will host streams from a host of DJs, including A Guy Called Gerald, Ellen Allien, Sama', Paranoid London and Osunlade. The sets have been recorded across the world—Ibiza, Dubai, Kampala, Palestine, Seoul etc.—and will be broadcast with a donate function. The money raised will be put towards music studio developments in São Paulo and Lavender Hill in South Africa. "We're beyond excited about launching Around The World in 80 Raves," says In Place of War CEO Ruth Daniel. "It's a huge undertaking that wouldn't be possible without the incredible support of our partners, including the phenomenal DJ talent playing for us."
