  • Canadian artist Cadence Weapon has won this year's Polaris Music Prize. He won for Parallel World, an album that features collaborations with Jacques Greene, Manga Saint Hilare, Strict Face, Fat Tony and Backxwash (who won the 2020 Polaris Music Prize), with production from the likes of Jimmy Edgar, Korea Town Acid and others. The prize is presented by CBC Music and voted on by 11 jurors, and comes with a $50,000 CAD financial award. Cadence Weapon was chosen from a shortlist of ten records, and the other shortlist members will receive $3,000 CAD each, along with distribution packages from Play MPE. Shortlist members included Dominique Fils-Aimé, Mustafa and The Weather Station. Listen to Parallel World and check it out at Bandcamp.
